Omni Montessori School was established in 1985, to provide an individualized and integrated Montessori curriculum in a child centered environment. Omni serves children ages three through 9th grade at its 2 rural campuses. The main campus encompasses eight acres and includes three primary classrooms (for children three to six), two lower elementary classrooms (for children six to nine), two upper elementary classrooms (for children nine to twelve), an activity building, classroom garden space, a playground and a playing field. The fourteen acre adolescent campus was purchased in the summer of 2008 to provide a land based curriculum experience for our adolescent students in grades 7 through 9.

The school is recognized as an independent school by the State of North Carolina, and is recognized by the prestigious Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). All faculty members hold AMI teaching certificates appropriate to the age levels they teach.

Founded to be a community of learning for their children, their parents and the teachers, the school is a not-for-profit educational corporation. The members of the corporation are the parents of enrolled students and members of the school's staff (teachers, assistants and the administrator). The school is managed by a board of trustees, elected by the members of the corporation. A parent association raises funds, coordinates volunteers to work in a variety of roles in support of the school staff, and organizes social and cultural events. From its beginning, Omni has relied heavily on the participation and assistance of its parent body to foster a high standard of Montessori education through the contribution of a wide range of ideas, skills and experience.
